TashaTiger is a member of the Guardians of the Dawn.

Originally , very little was known about TashaTiger other than she is a cat-girl and stands about four feet tall. However, her origins were eventually told.

Character History

Early Career

TashaTiger was born Natasha Priss. She was an otherwise normal young woman with a low-level mutant ability, giving her cat-like reflexes and agility. Combined with some minor training with blades, she tried her luck as a superhero.

In 2006, she registered with Freedom Corps at their headquarters in Galaxy City under the codename TashaTiger. At the time, she wore a cat-suit costume and carried simple blades in her gloves.

After her registration, she went to get her first assignment when she accidentally entered the M.A.G.I. office. Nobody was there at the time, but she found herself attracted to a certain charm laying on the desk in plain sight. Without realizing it, she took the charm out of the office and kept it with her as she found her way to the correct office to get her first assignment.

A few days later, she was given a hostage situation to resolve. The enemy were Council members. But when she cleared the store of the kidnappers, she discovered it was a trap by a woman who identified herself as Countess Von Strong. The Countess had arranged for the MAGI office to be cleared out so TashaTiger could take the charm past the protection barriers.

The Countess used her rapport with animals to overwhelm TashaTiger and render her unconscious. She then recited an incantation that would summon the spirit trapped inside the charm, which she said was a huge feral beast named Ur-Bast. But instead of transforming TashaTiger into a huge beast, she was transformed into a little cat-girl. Von Strong ordered her creatures to devour the cat-girl, but TashaTiger found she now had the strength and endurance to fight back, including using new claws that were a part of her body. She fled from the scene at the first opportunity, discovering just how smaller she had become in the process.

A year later, she was asked to join the Guardians of the Dawn superhero group.

The Quiet Guardian

As a member of the Guardians, she was a rather quiet and polite hero. Some speculated that her personality took a completely different turn once she became a cat-girl. She still fought the good fight, though, only this time as more of a "cat" than as a "girl".

The Lost Year

Not long after the Guardians "disbanded" in 2011, TashaTiger took up residence in the Freedom Corps headquarters like so many other heroes. Thus, in September of that year, she found herself caught up in the disaster that was the Shivan Meteor Strike in Galaxy City. While it was believed she was lost and presumed killed in the attack, she was actually one of over 2200 people caught in a "time echo" of the city through the mechanizations of Doc Tor. A year later, she was rescued from the echo thanks to Galatea Powers and Tor, who was believed killed in the process.

Changed

With the Guardians vindicated and restored to active status, TashaTiger returned to the group, but, like others with mystical or mutation-based abilities, she found that she was changed from her time in the echo. She was more aggressive at times; easy to upset, even jumpy.

Then she began experiencing blackouts during times of extreme stress. Whole periods would just be unavailable. Then she would awaken hours later in a strange place, completely human, and completely naked. Then, after a few hours, she would transform back into a cat-girl.

During one such period, TashaTiger was watching a victim of the Blue Dog Squad when they tried to intimidate her. TashaTiger moved to defend the woman when the police began using deadly force on her. TashaTiger quickly transformed into a huge feral cat creature, severely injuring the officers before fleeing.

When she awoke again, she called Cardinal Syn for help. Syn learned that the police were hunting the feral creature and had tracked it down to their location. As Syn tried to defend TashaTiger, she watched in horror as her teammate transformed into the feral creature again. She attacked the officers and then fled.

News of the feral attack got the attention of Von Strong, who had returned to Paragon City to take possession of Ur-Bast. She ordered several Council forces to find the creature.

Meanwhile, Syn got help from Ally Kazam, a mystical telepath, who also was able to track down where the creature would hide. After freeing the creature from the Council forces, Ally and Syn got into her head and discovered the truth of TashaTiger's powers.

They learned that Ur-Bast was not the feral creature possessing Natasha Priss. Rather, the feral creature was Natasha's natural transformation. Ur-Bast had been suppressing it all this time, giving Natasha control over the creature so she could operate in a "hybrid" state as a cat-girl. With Ally's help, the two entities managed to come to a new agreement, with Ur-Bast controlling TashaTiger's state of being, allowing her to transform into a feral creature when needed, and also into a more "human" form when not.

Unlike so many changed from their time in the Time Echo of Galaxy City, TashaTiger actually came out for the better.

Powers and Abilities

Her Primary Power is Claws, as she can sprout razor sharp claws from her hands.

Her Secondary Power is Super Reflexes. She is incredibly agile. She can also leap long distances and move at a faster-than-normal speed like a cat.

She also has the ability to transform into a larger feral creature with extreme claws. But not long after this, she transforms back into a full human for a short period of time before reverting to her cat-like form.

Related Information

She first appeared in Issue #11 of the Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight series and played a minor role in the "Time and Changes" storyline. Her origins were finally revealed in "Furia and the Guardians" #12.

Note

It is unknown if she is connected in any way to Kinetic Kitten or any of the other "Kittens" in the KK-Comics series.
