Ally Kazam is a character in the now-defunct City of Heroes MMO.
She is a mind-dancer, a mystical-based telepath, who uses magic to get into the minds of others.

Recruitment
Ally Kazam was recruited by Jason Knight to help Cardinal Syn find a missing TashaTiger, who, at the time, was struggling to deal with her enhanced abilities. Using her unique approach to telepathy, she was able to locate TashaTiger, and eventually was able to help the young woman get reacquainted with her powers and how to better use them.
Months later, she would be recruited yet again, this time by Syn herself, to help bring down the corrupt members of the Blue Dog Squad.
Powers and Abilities
Ally Kazam is a mind-dancer, which means that her telepathic abilities are mystical in nature instead of being part of some mutation. This gives her some advantages over the traditional telepath. For starters, she is not limited by line-of-sight or being within a certain range of someone to find them. She can actually get a location of a person through a telepathic link with other people who are thinking of that person or remembering them.
As a mystical telepath, Ally can turn her powers on and off at will, unlike traditional telepaths whose powers are always on.
Another important distinction is that Ally does not need charms or incantations to use her powers, unlike other mystical users. But using her powers still take a heavy toll on her in other ways.
