Rularuu, otherwise known as Rularuu the Ravager, is a multiverse deity in the City of Heroes MMO.

He is the lord and master of the Shadow Shard Universe, as well as a threat to all other realities as he seeks to absorb them all in order to become all-powerful.

Character History

Rularuu

Once upon a time in the universe we know today as the Shadow Shard, there was Rularuu. He was all-knowing, all-being, all-doing, and all-powerful. He created all that there was. The heavens, stars, planets, and life.

And then, when all was created, Rularuu sought other challenges. But he was stymied by the greatest challenge of them all.

The challenge of other realities.

Rularuu became aware of other universes besides his own. Other dimensions where rules and laws are different. Where life exists that is not Rularuu.

He was troubled by this revelation. How can there be anything without Rularuu?

So he sought the answer to the ultimate question. He expended all that he was and all he knew to find the answer.

And he did.

And the answer fragmented both Rularuu and all that was created by him.

Divided But All Rularuu

All that was Rularuu was split and divided, separated into many aspects. Some greater or lesser, but all still Rularuu. Even his creation, the very universe itself, fragmented and twisted in the wake of the answer.

The largest and most powerful aspect of Rularuu is Rularuu the Ravager. While still a god, the Ravager lacks the level of benevolence and mercy he once possessed. He seeks to restore his lesser aspects, to be whole, but also to once again know the answer to the ultimate question.

Destroyer Of Realities

Rularuu believed that the answer lies in assimilating other realities, other universes. He knows he is not the only one who seeks the answer to the ultimate question, and believes that somewhere, some universal force would know the answer.

One of his earliest targets was the Primal Universe in the 1960's. Rularuu felt a pull to that universe but he did not know how or why. His arrival, though, was met with resistance from the clandestine hero group known as the Midnight Squad. They successfully managed to send Rularuu out of the Primal Universe and into a special folded section of his own reality which became his prison.

Alternate Future

Galatea Future and Rularuu challenge Alor

In the "Time and Changes" storyline in "Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight", Rularuu is seen invading Earth in the year 2018. His arrival causes terrible destruction around the world. Many of Earth's heroes, including Statesman, perish in the initial attack. It takes the combined might of surviving heroes and villains to finally defeat the god but Earth pays a catastrophic price because of it.

This future is rendered moot by the actions of a far-future version of Galatea Powers called Galatea Future. But before the timeline could completely reset itself, she uses the full power of Ouroboros to summon this version of Rularuu back in time to stop the multiverse menace known as Alor.

The current version of Rularuu is aware of these events and fears Galatea Powers because he knows that Galatea has the potential to be powerful enough to defeat him.

Powers and Abilities

Rularuu is a cosmic deity. Even divided among his many aspects, he is still powerful enough to destroy whole universes.
