Character History

Julie got her start as a plucky reporter for the Millennium City Free Press newspaper. She initially covered human interest stories, but took a chance and started to follow the activities of Millennium City's mysterious vigilante hero Nighthawk. Almost overnight she became a city reporter providing exclusive stories of Nighthawk's activities, and sometimes finding herself in danger because of them.

With the encouragement of her boyfriend, computer programmer Mark Whitaker, Julie accepted a position with WCOC TV as an on-the-scene reporter. The change allowed her to cover key stories but without being put directly in danger herself. She still does occasional stories for the paper, but only when she feels the station is sidelining her. (Note: Julie does not know that Whitaker is really Nighthawk.)

Julie's position with the station allows her to interview heroes on the street. Sometimes this has led to some interesting developments, such as when Galatea Future had a confrontation with The Nationalist on live TV. But, in most instances, she's had to do fluff pieces with heroes and eyewitnesses.
