Character History
Powers Family
Katie Lea Powers is a third-generation superhero. Her grandfather, Clayton Powers, was the Cardiff superhero known as Skylord, and served with the original Hero One first as his sidekick during World War II (under the name Skykid) and then as a hero in his own right as a member of the Dawn Patrol. Her father, Windham Powers, had no measurable abilities, but still served with both Hero One and with his successor, Hero 1, as a support member of the Dawn Patrol.
As a special gift for his family’s service, Hero One bequeathed a special medallion to Windham to be passed to his first-born child. That medallion had a portion of Hero One’s spirit. When Katie Lea was a child, Windham draped the medallion around her neck, and instantly she was given magical powers over the elements.
Hero 1 took Katie Lea under his wing and began to train her on the use of her powers, preparing her to one day become a full-fledged member of the British group. Unfortunately he would not live to see that day, as he sacrificed his life during the 2002 Rikti Invasion. On that same day Katie lost her older sister, Faith.
Katie Lea was given a provisional membership in the Dawn Patrol by its new leader, Lady Jane, under the codename Lyon Powers. Her work was primarily for support purposes since she was still underage at the time. She was considered somewhat arrogant but eager to prove herself in the field. She was given full membership on her 18th birthday and soon faced her first supervillain, the cultural anarchist known as Le Zoot.
Paragon City
In 2009, after spending a year as a full-fledged member of the Dawn Patrol, she was watching the BBC when she saw a news report about a rising star in Paragon City by the name of Galatea Powers. Angry that someone else would lay claim to the name “Powers”, Lyon took the first transatlantic flight over to the United States to confront Galatea.
The two women met during the 2009 Halloween Event in the Atlas Park transit station. After a brief verbal diatribe by the younger Powers, Galatea informed Lyon that it was never her intention of profiting off the Powers family name, and that, until Lyon contacted her, she had no idea there was another hero dynasty with the same last name.
The two made up, and after a brief team-up to take down an Eochai giant monster, Lyon made Galatea and her cousin honorary members of the Cardiff clan. In return, Galatea asked that Lyon stay as an exchange member of the Guardians of the Dawn so she could make better use of her abilities. Lady Jane, having already worked with Galatea on a private mission, quickly gave her blessing to the idea.
"Galatea Dawning"

Lyon was the first member to notice the changes in Galatea. She eventually was the one that started bringing together members of the Dawn Patrol to work with the Guardians in dealing with the appearance of Leona Powers. She also provided the blood sample of her late sister Faith, which became the base DNA to restore Galatea.
Afterward, Lyon worked with Galatea to get to know more about her sister Faith, especially when Galatea started to develop some of Faith's quirky traits.
Post-AFTERMATH
As mentioned in the special "Guardians of the Dawn AFTERMATH", Katie is now a student in Paragon City University at Steel Canyon.
She has been staying with Galatea, whom she considers to be like the sister she previously lost, and are sharing an apartment on Talos Island.
