Mister Cade

Mister Cade (full name unknown) is a technomancer and member of the Paragon City District Attorney's Office. He first appeared in Issue #16 in the Guardians of the Dawn Spotlight series.

Character History

Very little is publicly known about the man who simply calls himself "Mister Cade".

Some believe that this is by design. In a world where knowledge is power and knowledge can be spread around the world via the Internet, the most devastating weakness of a technomancer would be knowing who he is.

As Paragon City began to suffer from a seemingly-endless turnover of lead prosecutors (some point after Issue #8), one of the short-lived District Attorneys came up with the idea of bringing in technomancers to supervise all administrative activities. Such a person would be connected to the building's computer systems twenty-four hours a day, able to monitor for judicial requests or orders, police alerts, and emergency broadcasts. They would also be able to gage the mood of certain controversial cases through Internet broadcasts and blog posts and alert prosecutors accordingly.

Mr. Cade was brought over to Paragon City from Seattle, which specialized in the creation and training of technomancers. Almost immediately the indexing and warehousing of information and the transfer of evidence was improved. Leaks to the media, although still a problem, were cut down significantly. And outside hacking and in-house illegal use of the Internet were cut down to almost zero.

Connection to Shadowborn/Bilderburg Alliance

While it was initially believed that Mister Cade was connected to the Shadowborn organization because of his association with Edward Vance, it was revealed in the pages of "The Guardian Powers" that he was connected to the much larger Bilderburg Alliance.

Technomancy

Contrary to popular belief, a "technomancer" is not someone who mixes magic and technology in the same way that alchemy mixes magic and science. Quite the contrary, a technomancer is someone whose use in technology can be considered almost magical. Often such people use cybernetic implants connected directly to their brains.

A technomancer is used to synchronize with a building's mainframe system, sharing its operating system and serving as an organic firewall for sensitive information. Most technomancers retain more than eighty percent of their organic body, believing that relying too much on cybernetics would make them vulnerable and distract from their overall goal of monitoring the flow of information.

Technomancers are considered the best in building administration because they are able to detect and respond to threats both real and digital faster than either fully-organic or mostly-cybernetic beings. Because of their empathic connection to computer systems, technomancers do not make for good hackers.
