Dr. Alison Wonderland was a character in the world of Champions Online MMO. She was also the woman in charge of Het Dimn, a subsidiary of The Mind, Inc. that specialized in over-the-counter stimulants.
Character History
Alison Wonderland was a geeky girl who was named after the Lewis Carroll book "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and was teased and tormented endlessly by other children because of it. She hated being called "Alice" by other kids and even by adults. She insisted on being called Alison, but nobody would give her that respect.
She was shy and introverted, keeping her nose in her studies, hoping that some day she would be respected.
Then, at the age of 13, she realized that she had the ability to influence others. It wasn't strong, but it was just enough for her to stop the tormenting.
She went on to get her doctorate in chemistry and psychology. Then she was recruited by The Mind, Inc., a private organization dedicated to exploring and developing telepathic abilities. They challenged her to come up with a drug that would bring out latent telepathic abilities in others so they could recruit them.
She was given control of a pharmaceutical company called Het Dimn (an anagram of "The Mind") and enough capitol to produce the drug and to facilitate the distribution.
Months later, she was able to come up with Wake-EZ, a supposed stimulant that actually worked on stimulating parts of the brain used in telepathy. She herself used the drug to further boost her telepathic powers, supposedly so she could "validate" their effects. With her enhanced abilities and an intensive lobbying service, she began a campaign to get Wake-EZ past regulatory oversight so it could straight to the shelves.
One month later, Wake-EZ was on shelves, and Alison was the new favorite in the company.
Downfall and Death
Several weeks after the introduction, certain people began showing signs of telepathic ability. While most people found Wake-EZ to be a mildly successful stimulant, the drug did seem to enhance the abilities of those already possessing telepathic powers, and introduce those powers to those who had the potential but not necessarily psi-positive. While Alison and The Mind were ready for the possible critic, they were completely unprepared to encounter questions from the United Nations group Project Mycroft and from the telepathic investigative branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, both of which were able to get the Food and Drug Administration to pass an emergency recall on Wake-EZ.
When questioned outside of the offices of The Mind by Agent Wednesday and Elite Ice, Alison quickly fled. She was lured into an alleyway by someone claiming to be a friend helping her escape. But instead, she was shot in the back by a high-velocity projectile and was killed.
Powers and Abilities
Wonderland possessed telepathic and telekinetic abilities. The levels of her ability could not be measured prior to her death.
Personality
Alison Wonderland showed the typical signs of a sociopath. She had no remorse for her actions and showed no signs of empathy.
Related Information
Dr. Wonderland was seen in the "Psilence of Conscience" storyline in the "Future's Guardian" series.
