Justiciar is a Canadian superhero normally seen in the Canadian Wilderness.

Character History

The story of Justiciar is one of a man who never gave up on a challenge.

David Burell was born into success. He was graced with looks, charm, intelligence, and he was heir to a considerably successful family business.

And yet that wasn't enough for him. David challenged himself repeatedly in the great Canadian Wilderness, pushing himself to climb the next snowy peak.

But then tragedy struck. An ice shelf shifted in the middle of his climb, causing him to drop fifty feet onto a ledge. The impact broke his back, and before the Royal Canadian Mounted Police could mount a rescue, frostbite took his left arm and leg.

Rather than be broken by the accident, though, David turned that setback into a new challenge, forcing himself to use his new prosthetics to move about and to become both an inspiration and an advocate for the handicapped.

Unfortunately, David's father could not accept this accident as being a "challenge". In his obsession to make his son "whole", he reached out to the Canadian supervillain Cyberlord and demanded he "fix" his son at any possible expense. Cyberlord gave David cybernetic limbs to replace his missing ones, including a cybernetic spine, but the shock of the process put David into a coma. When the elder Burell hounded Cyberlord to "fix the problem", Cyberlord did so by killing him and putting David in cryogenic storage.

Years later, an attack at one of Cyberlord's labs resulted in an electrical overload that super-charged David's cybernetic parts and forced his resuscitation. After being made aware of his kidnapping and his father's death, David also discovered that his new cybernetic parts gave him superhuman powers, especially ice-based powers.

Never willing to turn down a challenge, he adopted the name Justiciar, after the heroes of old, and began using his new powers for justice.
