Shelly Stickbutt is a conservative member of Congress in the world of Champions Online MMO.

Character History

Shelly Stickbutt has always been that one woman that knew how to get power without being overt about it.

She was the girl in school that always ran for class president and won. The one that really didn't make big waves or big promises, but she held on to the seat just because she wanted it. And her friends supported her because it was "cool".

As a young woman, Shelly knew what she wanted to do with her life. She wanted to be a U.S. Senator. But it would take money and influence. She would need to marry someone with both.

Around this time, there was a failed attempted coup from conservative extremists. Her older sister quietly adopted one of the young boys orphaned from the PRIMUS raid, but it also brought some "scandal" with the local political scene. Shelly's choices were limited because of this and she felt that she had little option but to engage in a relationship with Simon Stickbutt, CEO of Stickbutt Pharmaceuticals, maker of Butt-Ease ointment. Sure, the name was laughable, but not the money or the local influence. Simon was twenty years her senior, but he was also socially inept. And, until he met her, he was hemorrhaging money from numerous harassment and child support lawsuits. (Ironic, given his preferences.) It truly was a marriage of convenience for them both. He wouldn't have to worry about more harassment and frivolous child support claims and she would never have to worry about giving him children.

Once she got their family and financial affairs in order, Shelly went to work on running for public office. She stayed with the conservative enclaves because they were not only easily manipulatable, but they also voted religiously. She mirrored what they wanted to have in office and then peddled to the local businesses what they wanted to hear. Soon, she was on her way to Washington D.C. as a newly-elected conservative member of Congress.

House of Representatives

Congresswoman Stickbutt learned early on which lobbying groups to appease and how to get on the good side of party bosses. She knew her constituents hated the United Nations, so she made sure to sit in on the committees and subcommitees that dealt with them. She made sure her name got out with the local media, but that she stayed in the shadows nationally.

When her adopted nephew became known as The Nationalist, she was quick to support his efforts to "purify" Millennium City and to use her political power to go after his critics, including those in the media. She called for Congressional hearings about "hero bias" and "media bias", claiming these groups have a "liberal agenda". The claims were false, but the staged outrage was enough to get those groups to back down on their criticism of the Nationalist.

This changed, however, when the Nationalist attempted to overthrow Mayor Biselle and the City Council to impose a one-man fascist rule on the city. His one-man coup was shut down by Major Cross and his Project Mycroft team. Shelly's connection to the Nationalist quickly became a liability for her. She was privately given the option to step down to avoid being impeached for collusion with insurrectionists.

She left office, but not without one final attempted blow at Project Mycroft... by sending an agent of the FBI's "Fortune Teller Squad" to investigate them.

However, she still retains plenty of conservative influence in the area, and she vowed to return to Washington.

United States Senate

In 2018, Shelly achieved her lifelong dream of being a United States Senator in a surprise election victory. Whether or not it came from foreign interference remains to be seen.

Once sworn in, she went right back to going after the United Nations, and specifically UNTIL.

Powers and Abilities

Shelly has no power other than her influence in political and conservative circles.

Psychology

Shelly Stickbutt is a manipulator. She enjoys power for the sake of having power. She doesn't try to get flashy with it, and she doesn't try to run for higher offices that draw a spotlight on her.
