The Lady Grey is a character in the City of Heroes MMO and the leader of the United Nations security group Vanguard.
Character History
Much of Lady Grey's life is a mystery, but it is believed that she is older than even Statesman and is one of the oldest living super-powered beings.
It is presumed that she is British from her accent, that at one point she held a position of nobility or prominence, and that she has some sort of connection to the legendary villain Professor Moriarty. She also has a connection to the European superhero group Dawn Patrol, but it is unclear just how connected she is to that organization, whether she was a member or even a founding member.
She became a founding member of the Vanguard during the Rikti War, providing valuable intelligence information about the Rikti and their technology. Later, when Statesman stepped down, she reluctantly accepted the leadership position, although she kept most operations quiet until the Second Rikti Invasion of 2007.
Second Rikti Invasion
In the months prior to the Second Rikti Invasion in 2007, Lady Grey reorganized Vanguard into the five current specialized divisions, abandoning the various Greek-lettered "Team" groups that caused some concerns over civil liberties.
Her timing could not be more fortuitous as her new organization was ready just in time for the Rikti to strike again. Her preparations allowed Vanguard to rally the heroes and villains to successfully rout the Rikti and prevent history from repeating itself.
