I have to say that ive been personally dissapointed on a number of occations when I wanted to read a comic but no comic existed. It was nice art work, but it did mislead and disaapoint me.
On the other side, when I know before hand that it isnt a real comic, but just a piece of artwork made to look like a cover, I can appreciate it as such.
Further, it is alot more work and devotion to create a full story, whether just a few pages or 30 pages, than one art work cover. Of course this depends on the quality one wishes to put to each page. The cover could take more work than all the other pages or it could be quicker than any single page within. But by definition, it is more work to do a full story than just the cover. Someone may be extremely devoted to their overall passion but to create the overall story requires a level of devotion to not just the entire series, but to an individual issue as it is extremely time consuming, or is compared to just a single page.
As for the goals of the CCC, its to help each other create stories. A simple page of art is not necessarily a story. But perhaps in conjunction with written stories, for those whom couldnt do all they would like with the game or those who cant devote enough time to creating it. It does not need to be a stereotypical piece of work, however one thing that the essence of all comics have is being amalgam art. Like tv or movies. Comics are written art mixed with drawn art. Written doesnt necessarily mean words, mine you. But single pieces of art without caption or context are not often comics.
TK, I was actually upset when I couldnt find comics to your covers. I felt mislead, especialky given the url title. Thats a compliment to your covers because they did what covers are suppose to do, very well, and thats make me want to read the story.
The negative is I stopped trying to find actual issues on your site. In the past, whenever I want covers without issues, ive gone to art sites and im not dissapointed or feeling mislead. But when you have comic in the title, I and I imagine others, are expecting actual comics. Perhaps if your site segregated the comic inspired artwork from the actual comics, I would not have felt the way I did and would have possibly made it a habit to return often.
I have no problem with comic inspired art or alternative comic inspired work, like written stories on the comic index, as long as they are properly labeled as art or written. The default of the site and group is comics, though. To read them and how to make them.
