Windham Powers was the son of the British superhero Skylord and the founder of the Powers Division. He was also the father of Furia Powers.

Family History

Windham Powers is the son of Clayton Powers, who started his career during World War II as Skykid. After the war, Clayton (who later changed his hero name to "Skylord") married his longtime girlfriend and had several children. Most, it was discovered, had superhuman powers like their father and were all-too eager to follow in his footsteps. But one child, Windham, was disappointingly normal.

Windham was often forgotten, ignored, when compared to his more successful brothers and sisters. They lived up to the "Powers" family name. He couldn't.

But Windham vowed to make everyone regret that bigotry. He didn't have superpowers, but he was smart and resourceful. He learned all he could about superpowers and how to combat them. This kind of knowledge made him useful to people like Marcus Cole.

When Cole was convinced to "save" the world from the threat of the Hamidon and the Devouring Earth as "Global Commander", Cole called on Windham's intelligence skills to help find weaknesses. Sadly, it would be too little, too late, as the Hamidon had evolved beyond their means to contain it.

Global Commander Cole ordered the evacuation of all major cities, bringing as many "useful" citizens as possible to First Ward in preparation for their eventual transition to the new city-state of Praetoria. Cole wanted Windham to help set up the super-powered division of the Praetorian Police Department, which Cole graciously said would be named in his honor. Windham agreed, but only on the condition that his two surviving daughters - Faith and Katherine - would be rescued from Wales.

Windham worked alongside Praetor White, the former vigilante Marauder, in setting up the new Powers Division to oversee all the super-powered recruits. But it would do more than just coordinate super-powered operatives. It would also be used to collect information on their strengths and weaknesses. It would identify potential threats to Cole's power-structure.

Nobody really "knows" what happened next. All that anyone really knows is that Faith Powers decided to pay her father a visit at his office and found him sprawled out on the floor, dead.

An investigation from Praetor White concluded Windham Powers was murdered by the anarchist gang called the Destroyers. White became the new head of the Powers Division, while Faith Powers would become a new investigator and would later change her first name to Furia.

Powers and Abilities

Despite his family lineage, Windham Powers has no superhuman abilities. In fact, he was the only member of the Powers bloodline without powers. He was, however, a trained British intelligence agent, with a specialty in firearms.
