Steamphunk is a villain in the City of Heroes MMO. He is seen as the first leader of the Freakshow following the arrest of "President Dreck".

Character History

The metal gang known as the Freakshow has had many leaders over the years.

The first and most notable has been Dreck, otherwise known as "President Dreck". The Freakshow consider him to be the "first real metal god", since he was the one that transformed the gang into being the heavy-metal hell-raisers we know them to be today.

But Dreck's arrogance has often landed him behind bars, and in his absence, other "real metal gods" have arisen to lead the group. Some end up killed, while others ended up joining Dreck in prison. Some even found themselves in the Rogue Isles, with no idea how they got there.

And then... there's Steamphunk.

Steamphunk is not your typical metal head-banging gang-banger. Steamphunk likes to think he has style. He listens to funk instead of metal. He hasn't fried his brains out on Superadine like others have.

And he has something that the "real metal gods" (with the exception of Dreck) don't have. He has plans. He has goals. And he sees the Freakshow making those plans happen for him.

Errand of Idiot

During Steamphunk's first outing as leader of the Freakshow, they were sent to retrieve a corpse with extra-dimensional nanites. The Freakshow didn't understand the importance of the corpse and tried to scavenge as much as they could for themselves. They soon encountered resistance in the form of Watcher Twelve, Aurora Borealis, and newest member of the Guardians of the Dawn, Koldfront.

As they made their retreat, Kolfront tried to stop them, but Steamphunk managed to get the upper hand and knock the rookie hero out.

Later, Steamphunk met with the man who gave him the mission... the "advance agent" Nox. But when he returned with nothing but "junk", Nox "rewarded" Steamphunk with a violent death from his oversized sword.

It is not known if Steamphunk is still alive. Freakshow are known to carry "wakie" patches in the event of their deaths, so it is possible he used one.

Powers and Abilities

Steamphunk's primary weapon is his War Mace. His mace happens to be spiked "for his pleasure". When combined with his cybernetic arm, it is a formidable bashing weapon.

His secondary power is Shield Defense. He uses an old Stop sign that has been modified with a few rusted nails, which allow him to inflict even more damage when he uses it to body-check his opponents.

In addition to these, he has the usual array of cybernetic implants, including his right eye, his right arm, and an internalized inspiration injector system.
