Unlike her predecessor, this Luminary is an android created by Positron as a "wedding present" for Rafter. She mimics all of Rafter's superhuman abilities, but also bears the likeness of Rafter's wife, Jeannette. Although this Luminary is an android, "she" sees herself in the female tense.
Luminary was created by Doctor Raymond Keyes, otherwise known as Positron, as a wedding present for his friend, Kit Rafter. Rafter was otherwise known as the first "Luminary", and was retiring to spend time with his bride, famed fashion model Jeannette. Worried that Rafter would feel "compelled" to return to a life as a hero, Jeannette asked Keyes to build the android so Kit would know there was no need for him to return.
The new Luminary was made using the same process that created fellow Freedom Phalanx member Citadel, although with state-of-the-art components that Positron believed would make her better than Citadel. Keyes made sure the android resembled Jeannette as a nod to her and also as a "reminder" to his friend to stay retired and keep the real Jeannette happy.
Rather than become a member of the Freedom Phalanx like her predecessor, this Luminary became a member of the Vindicators, otherwise known as the "sidekick brigade", when other Phalanx members began to question whether or not she was developing strong emotional feelings and a personality that mimicked Jeannette. She did not take it personal, however, and has since "enjoyed" her time with the other junior heroes.
When she is not doing assignments, she is hanging around the transit station on Talos Island along with Citadel. There has been some speculation as to whether or not she has any feeling for Citadel, but she dismisses them. They are both, after all, androids.
Powers and Abilities
Luminary's primary ability is Energy Blast. She can focus energy at her opponents.
Her secondary ability is Energy Melee. She can turn that same energy inward and use it to augment her own physical abilities. This includes energy manipulation and creating a localized electromagnetic pulse.
She can also fly.
Her powers were designed to be similar to the original Luminary, although as an android, she is susceptible to the normal weaknesses of any other android.
