Doctor Silverback is a sentient simian and one of the most celebrated scientists in the world of Champions Online.
Character History
Doctor Silverback was born an ordinary Silverback gorilla living in Rwanda. He was captured by poachers and sold to Dr. Phillipe Moreau as part of the mad scientist's experiments in creating sentient animals to carry out criminal activities.
At first Silverback did not know that what he was doing was wrong. But as his intelligence slowly developed, he began to develop his own sense of morality and he realized that his fellow creatures were doing bad things. When a British hero team raised Moreau's lab, Silverback used the opportunity to help the heroes take his former master down.
He joined the British team back to England, where he continued to develop his intelligence and not only be declared a sentient individual and British citizen, but also received the first of several doctoral degrees in science.
Today, he serves as one of the most colorful experts in Millennium City. He is the go-to-"guy" for The Champions for any scientific or technical questions, but he is not exclusive to the city's premiere hero team. In fact, his client-base is a veritable who's who in the hero world, including Galatea Future.
Silverback is also one of a few people who know that Galatea Future is from another universe, although he came across this discovery by accident through his work on the genetic profile that he was asked to develop for her.
Powers and Abilities
Surprisingly, Dr. Silverback's best ability is his mind. Yes, he is a gorilla, with the strength and the agility of one, but he prefers to use his mind to invent things and to carry out research. Many of the gadgets used today by the Champions came from him.
Personality
Silverback is very cordial and polite. He enjoys a good conversation with a kindred spirit. He has had tea with the Queen of England on numerous occasions and even held lengthy discussions with the leading scientific minds in the world. And yet, he remains humble and noble.
