"Agent Shadow" was a character in the now-defunct City of Heroes MMO.

She was a member of the original incarnation of the stealth government agency Shadowborn in the City of Heroes MMO.

Character History

As with many of the special agents that worked for Shadowborn itself, "Agent Shadow's" life was a complete mystery. She claimed to be from Homeland Security, but there was no way to verify this as any means of identification have been purged.

Agent Shadow was one of many operatives that used the various forms of government as a means to an end, making deals that benefited certain groups in order to secure convictions later on.

2007

Agent Shadow was recruited by Mender Tesseract to fulfill a special "favor", one that was promised would save her life.

She was told to kill a young computer forensic specialist named Sally Bright. She was told which kind of ammunition would be used, and was given a special slug that she was told had to be used as the "kill shot".

She walked into the police station, calmly identified herself as "Special Agent Shadow", got Sally to identify herself, and then she pulled out her weapon and fired at her target at point-blank range. She then calmly walked out, knowing that the police officers that work for Shadowborn would quietly purge any trace of her presence.

Afterward, Agent Shadow was told by Tesseract that she needed to find "Stephanie Walters", and that if she lived, Agent Shadow wouldn't.

2009

Two years later, Agent Shadow discovered that "Stephanie Walters" was really Captain Paragonna, a superhero police officer and founding member of the Guardians of the Dawn hero group. Using what little resources she had left, Agent Shadow set up an elaborate ruse to have Paragonna be turned over to The Family as a way for them to kill her.

What Agent Shadow did not realize is that Captain Paragonna used her own connections with the U.S. Marshals Witness Protection Program to have them eliminate Agent Shadow. Captain Paragonna made sure Agent Shadow was thoroughly distracted so she would not know that the Marshals had replaced her sharpshooters with theirs. They then killed her.

2010

A year later, Agent Shadow appeared again in Paragon City, this time to supposedly "finish" the job of killing Sally Bright, who had since been resurrected as the Kheldian hybrid Daybright. However, it turned out that this version of Agent Shadow was "on loan" from the past on behalf of Mender Tesseract in an attempt to recover the "temporal anchor" inside Daybright's body.

Agent Shadow was stopped by both Daybright and MidKnight X and then was sent back to her time thanks to Doc Tor so history and her future death would not be changed.

Powers and Abilities

As any forms of identification were purged from all records, there is no way to fully measure Agent Shadow's abilities. It is believed she had some measure of military or paramilitary training, but it could not be confirmed.
