The 5th Column is a villain group in the City of Heroes

History

The Fifth Column was founded in 1938 by some of the key leaders of Nazi Germany's superhero contingent with the two-fold purpose of sabotaging American interests in the brewing World War as well as countering the growing superhero contingent which had already made their presence in Paragon City.

Working with the members of the American Nazi Party, the Fifth Column slowly worked their way into the naval ports along the East Coast. They also began to catalog the activities of the Freedom Phalanx, noting their strengths and weaknesses.

When America was brought into the war in 1941, the Fifth Column then began a series of active acts of sabotage, costing Americans millions of dollars of damage and destruction.
