	~~{{WIP}}~~		As Senator, he continued his history of supporting the military and advocating "strong traditional values". He was appointed to the Senate Armed Services Committee and also sits on the Congressional Superhuman Oversight committee, which oversees the activities of the [[Federal Bureau for Super-powered Affairs]] regulatory agency.

			He is a strong supporter of the [[Freedom Corps]] and, to a lesser extent, [[Hero Corps]]. He believes that privatized superhero groups like Freedom Corps and Hero Corps should replace the United Nations-run [[Vanguard]] organization, as well as all smaller hero groups.

			Senator Stronghold strongly opposed [[POTUS44\|President Barack Obama's]] Affordable Care Act, aka "Obamacare", and rejected all calls for "hero healthcare exchange" program, citing existing advanced medical technology provided by Dr. Science. He has also blocked any effort to provide abortion services to any heroes registered under the FBSA that are not part of any private hero group.

			The only place where he differs from the GOP block concerns religious freedom. While the Senate GOP Platform calls for a greater emphasis on Christian religion, Stronghold advocates for "religious neutrality". He considers himself a believer of the "Roger Smith Doctrine", so named after the founder of Rhode Island, who was a firm believer of the separation of church and state. He often cites the words of the late hero [[Statesman]], who claimed to channel the power of the Greek God Zeus, and believed that many of the gods of legend are real and still affect the world.

			Senator Stronghold also firmly rejects any calls for normalization of diplomatic relations with the [[Rogue Isles]] as long as it is being controlled by [[Lord Recluse]] and [[Arachnos]].

=Character History=
==Early Career==
Thon Stronghold is the son of Samson Stronghold, a superhero in the 1960's known primarily for his super-strength and his long hair.

Unlike his father, though, Thon would not possess superhuman abilities. This pleased his mother, who worried constantly about Samson's infidelity and was afraid that her son would be like him.

Thanks to his parents, though, he was able to attend the best schools money could buy, and was eventually able to secure an officer's commission with [[Freedom Corps]]. But he primarily stayed away from any kind of supervillain conflict. He was content with providing material support for members of the [[Freedom Phalanx]] and the [[Regulators]]. He was a good supply officer.

After putting in his required time, he retired from Freedom Corps in the late 1990's. He considered accepting a job with [[Hero Corps]], but declined after the destruction of the Hero Corps building in [[Overbrook]].

It was during this time that he developed a taste for politics. He ran for and was elected to the position of state senator for Paragon City.

==Rikti War==
During the First Rikti Invasion of 2002, Thon was attending fundraisers in Providence. When it became clear that Paragon City was specifically targeted by the Rikti, he was secretly relieved he wasn't in the area at the time. Still, he needed to keep up with appearances, so he made plenty of visual appearances with the new United Nations Vanguard team, showing his clear support of their actions.

==National Career==
Following the Rikti Invasion, Thon became a war-hawk supporter for Vanguard, Freedom Corps, and any other military organization that would keep the world "safe" from threats like the Rikti. Again, this was carefully orchestrated with the state GOP so that he would be a clear champion of law-and-order-and-security.

In 2004, Thon ran for and won a seat in the U.S. House of Representative for his district, which included Paragon City. His campaign secured endorsements from Paragon City leaders, including newly-appointed Police Chief Bochco. He cashed in heavily on his support for the military and strong "traditional values", including using his father's alleged numerous dalliances as justification.

In 2008, Thon ran for and won a seat in the U.S. Senate.

As a former member of Freedom Corps, Senator Stronghold has basic training in firearms.

It is unknown if he still retains any kind of physical conditioning from his younger days.
