			Mercedes was unknowingly brought into a scam perpetrated by [[ARGENT]] to discredit and defame the legacy warrior [[John Battle]].

			Mercedes was given a tip about a story concerning Battle and a deal that he brokered with the Yavapai Tribal Nation. A deal that reportedly was transformed into an oil fracking site for ARGENT that damaged the land and hurt the people. Mercedes would be the local face behind the story, working with famed reporter [[Pedro Duarte]]. She had no idea that the story was fake and that "Pedro Duarte" was longtime fake personality.

			When the truth did come out, Mercedes was suspected without pay for running through the story without going through higher-ups.
